The Alive After Five Arts Stage enjoys its second 2017 edition THU JUL 20, 2017 at 160 W. Main Street, Patchogue NY, and the theme this week is Women in The Arts. Start time is 5pm. Avoid traffic/parking challenges - Please consider using the Alive After Five Shuttle to get into town for this huge street fest.

Stage director is Dorene Rose, host is Mick Hargreaves, and the sound / staging is provided by the Lantern Sound Recording Rig.  Seating will be available.

Area visual artists are invited to attend and create their art, live, in the grassy area around the stage. There is NO FEE. Check in with Dorene Rose when you arrive. There are featured artists, and everyone else is welcomed to join in.



5 PM - The COSMIC PIONEERS consist of Leah Kay and Dave Grube.

The band was formed early January 2016. Blending guitar and mandolin on an eclectic mix of songs gives them a unique sound. Not to mention how their voices blend in intricate harmonies. They actually sound like one voice. The CP are currently writing original music. Come listen!!

5:45 PM - Marie Smulczeski 
15 Min Spoken Word Performance

Marie is an astrophysicist with a research emphasis in Dark Matter. You can find her first published work in the e-zine, "I Want You To See This Before I Leave." She considers her poetry to be somewhere in the realm of cosmic science psychedelic prose, and writes to to shed light on realms we forget exist beyond the common perception.

 

6 PM - Based out of Greenport, New York. JULIA KING is a Singer-Songwriter with Folk, Blues, Country, and Rock & Roll roots.

The songs from her first EP "The Morning After" will have you blushing, laughing, and crying from start to finish.

6:45 PM - Kelly Powell 
15 Minute Spoken Word Performance 

Kelly J. Powell is a poet native to Long Island.  She currently curates the long running poetry series at bj spoke gallery in Huntington. She loves what she does and does what she loves.  







 7 PM - New Jersey native, KATIE PEARLMAN began playing drums at age 10, and it wasn’t long before she was playing in a band and recording on her first album. 

On her recordings, it is typical to find Katie playing drums, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and of course singing. Find her newest releases here:

7:45 PM - Barbara Ann Branca
15 Minute Spoken Word Performance

Barbara Ann Branca is a performance poet, science writer and jazz singer. She has read and sung original works on National Public Radio and has featured in NYC and Long Island cafes and at the Walt Whitman Birthplace taking first place in a 2010 poetry competition. Her poems appear in several anthologies and she can often be spotted singing at the Jazz Loft in Stony Brook or Bobbique in Patchogue on jam nights!



8PM - People hearing RORIE KELLY for the first time often comment, "I can't believe that voice came out of that body." 

She's been compared to Joni Mitchell and Sara Bareilles for her catchy-confessional songwriting style, and to Alanis Morisette and Janis Joplin for her raw powerhouse vocals. Rorie's debut release, Wish Upon a Bottlecap, received airplay across the nation. Her followup live CD, Sincerely Live, featured knockout performances of brand new songs and fan favorites.
