He has brought his own style of blues to such luminaries as Chuck Berry, Little Buster, Todd Wolfe, Johnnie Allen, Peter Conway, Bill Sims, Dianne Lotny, and a variety of original projects. Influences are mind-boggling: Otis Spann, Roosevelt Sykes, Pinetop Perkins, Detroit Junior, Johnnie Johnson, Willie "The Lion" Smith, Big Bill Broonzy, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Professor Longhair, James Booker, Allen Toussaint, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Jon Cleary.
